“Experience is the name every one gives to their mistakes."

This quote by Oscar Wilde could not be more accurate than what my day consisted of. I met up with Ethney at the music studio on campus to get B-roll of Fenny Wilkinson working in the studio. i had him behind the board, talking to friends, telling me about his concert, behind a microphone rhyming, and jamming downstairs. It was tough working around the goons in the music studio who loved to say profane lines while the camera was rolling but after a grueling 40 minutes of takes and re-takes of Fenny faking things around the studio I got everything I needed.

I finished up getting B-roll by 9:40 and headed back to Ethney's house. she had left me her camera and sound kit so I was flying solo in there. when i got back to Ethney's we sat down and began to go through the footage I had taken over the past two days. However, i was given a forewarning before "don't take anything I say about your shots personal it is just feed back and overall they are pretty good, but you should learn from your mistakes."(not an exact quote but the general idea.) Upon hearing this I thought she had go through it already and decided my filming was crap and was about to destroy it. as we got into the importing process though i felt this forewarning was a bit much seeing as every thing she told me about the aesthetics of my shots was useful feedback and not even slightly offensive to me. we continued importing for the next couple hours as Ethney found something in each shot that she loved, that bothered her, or that she would have changed personal.

Today was great for me though. These small mistakes that i mad while filming were caught today and i will be conscious of them from now on. one thing i really am proud of is that since i started my senior project from day one Ethney always commented on how much room I left between a persons head and the top of the shot. This has completely changed since the beginning. Now the majority of the time my head room is correct which really shows me that everything Ethney is telling me is sticking and that idea keeps me working through all these little "experiences". Hopefully, as the headroom did, the few mistakes i made while filming this week will disappear next week while filming.
